- Abstract
- In the Arabic text of the “History of the Patriarchs of Alexandria”, one can find a number of titles, and sometimes quotations and brief descriptions, of writings attributed to the Alexandrian bishops. This paper will focus on the analysis of these lists of works, specifically for the 3rd, 4th and 5th centuries. They will be compared with what we know, from other sources, about the actual works of these patriarchs, whether preserved or not. This reflection will also take in consideration the complex textual tradition of the text (Greek and Coptic sources, different recensions of the Arabic text).
