Abstract
In Belgium, SMEs account for over 70% of GDP and are the most profitable in the EU. Most of them are family businesses. Many SMEs in Belgium are still fighting against the outcomes of the economic crisis. The anti-crisis measures adopted by the Belgian government in 2009 proved their utility and their legitimacy especially in SMEs which remain very fragile. The negociation of a new two-year intersectoral agreement which has been started during the second half of 2010 should the opportunity to reinforce support to SMEs.
