- Abstract
- The Italian situation is characterized by degrees changes and rapid transitions at different levels, which also involve the personal dimension and ecclesial experience of faith. Since Vatican II the word aggiornamento is the thread that accompanies the continuous process of renewal. The research brings attention to the Italian reality since Vatican II. The vocation of the Church to proclaim the Gospel is expressed in the commitment of the whole ecclesial action in evangelization. Today's Christian communities are called to a missionary conversion to sound a joyful and meaningful announcement of the revelation of God in history. A central commitment of the Christian life, recalled and re-launched by the Council, is the catechesis of adults. The hypothesis that guides the doctoral research claims that the renewal in view of a pastoral mission that focuses on adults center is not linked solely and exclusively to methods and strategies to be taken, but the deepening and a new articulation between the way consider faith, pastoral care and theology. The choices made in the thesis wants to highlight the theological elements that allow to identify the adult catechesis an effective place for the maturation of the believers in faith. The observation and study of adult catechesis in Italian, within the broader horizon of pastoral renewal, have allowed us to highlight some important theological challenges: the way of understanding and living the relationship between doctrine and pastoral and the space accorded to the practice of theology. The encounter with the life and theological reflection of M.-D. Chenu allows us to progress in This closer. Chenu father reveals the meaning of the practice as the presence of the Word of God in history, theological place, the principle of intelligence for the faith and call people to discern the signs of the times. He is also now a voice that recalls and revives the Church to be on the way and on a mission in today's world where the Word incarnate. The revelation of the Word, the mission and the encounter with Christ are the three theological concepts investigated by the Dominican theologian, useful to rethink today's pastoral life. The re-reading of Chenu from the past gives the Italian catechesis with adults and stimulates theological identity to engage in dialogue with the historical reality and context of which it is part. In this way, practical theology becomes a valuable contribution to the renewal of all theology.
