- (en) Has the Vatican II decree "Christus Dominus" truly inaugurated a reconfiguration of the ministry of the Bishop? In as early as the preparatory stages of the Council, a reevaluation of the Bishop's powers had been expected, yet mostly from a legal, rather than a theological perspective. Finally, a purely ecclesiological perspective was adopted in the final draft of the decree on pastoral office of Bishops in the Church, though some universalist traits remain. The deep-rooted theology of the local church and its relation with its Bishop, moving beyond part resistance, has yet to grow into a deeper and more general reception. This will allow for the recognition of large regional churches and the entire Church itself as the communion of these regional churches, and their appropriate deliberative ministerial expressions: Bishop's conferences, particular Councils, permanent Synod, General Councils… Favorable signs of this inculturation of the Gospel can be seen today.
