Abstract
The boson-fermion symmetries and associated supersymmetries, wherein the bosonic parts are described by the SU(5) limit of the Interacting Boson Model and the fermion is assigned, either to one shell model orbit with spin j=3/2, or to two orbits with j=3/2, 5/2, are applied to the Cu-Zn and As-Se regions, respectively. The level energies, the magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole properties, and the one- and two-nucleon transfer intensities are considered. The collective degrees of freedom in the even-even and odd-A nuclei are reasonably well produced, but problems arise for the single-particle degrees of freedom. Suggestions for improving the model are presented.
