Abstract
(en) The π→eve decay is the most accurate and unambiguous test of lepton universality. The experimental situation is reviewed and comparisons are made with theoretical predictions. Possible mechanisms leading to lepton universality violations are discussed. In suitable kinematics the π→eveγ decay is sensitive to the structure-dependent contribution which depends on two form factors, Vector and Axial-Vector. The experimental situation is reviewed and comparisons are made with predictions of various theoretical models. The Conserved Vector Current hypothesis establishes a relation between the Vector form factor and the neutral pion decay amplitude. Possible violations of this relation are discussed. The π→evee+e− decay is reviewed, both experimentally and theoretically.
