In this paper I build a philosophical critique of the Moldovan grammar manual penned by Leonid Madan in 1929. This critique proceeds in three steps. A first step aims to analyze the central theoretical elements of the above-mentioned Moldovan grammar. Secondly, I discuss the concept of “critique” in light of the Kantian definition of transcendental philosophy. This approach finally presents the opportunity to analyze the implicit philosophical groundings of the knowledge about language underlying Madan’s grammar
