Intestinal ischemia is an unusual clinical condition, frequently underestimated and not diagnosed at its early stage. Its prognosis is grim, particularly in case of mesenteric infarction. The aim of this paper is to show the contribution of sonography and computed tomography to this difficult diagnosis: these techniques can show gut wall changes and occlusions or stenoses of the main splanchnic vessels.
