Abstract
In front of electromagnetic (EM) pollution of theenvironment, EM protection requires more and more efficient so-lutions. Multilayered films consisting of alternating stacked nickelnanowires (NWs)-based conductive layers separated by bulk poly-carbonate films were fabricated as thin electromagnetic shield. Thewell-defined periodic arrangement of the multilayer structure withgradient NW concentration in the conductive layers demonstratesa remarkably high effective microwave absorption (reflection andtransmission below−10 dB, up to 34.3 dB of absorption loss)by tuning the conductivity and magnetic permeability of eachlayer. The ferromagnetic nature of NWs enhances the absorptionperformances compared to nonmagnetic carbon nanotubes havingsimilar conductivity. Our method provides a simple, compact, andefficient approach for the fabrication of electromagnetic interfer-ence shielding materials offering improved broadband microwaveabsorption.
