Abstract
In this survey of sandhi in Walloon, we will not attempt to account for all the variety found in all the dialects of Walloon. Due to the (lack of) accessibility of the data, we will concentrate on the dialects of Bastogne, of Tenneville and of Liège. In this contribution, we will analyze four major sandhi patterns: regressive voice assimilation, word-final fricative voicing, plosive nasalization, and word-final devoicing. Another major sandhi pattern, consonant liaison, is one of the topics of Morin 1986 (in the same volume). In the next sections, we will examine some minor sandhi pattern, which concern only proclitics: regressive nasal assimilation, cluster simplification and linking [z], or enclitics: enclitic germination (see Francard 1986, in the same volume).
