Abstract
Recent measurements of the forward angle n-p photodisintegration cross section have been hardly fitted by subsequent calculations. A measurement of the inverse reaction, the n-p radiative capture at 0 degrees and 180 degrees c.m. angle, was started at the Louvain-la-Neuve cyclotron. A 75 MeV neutron beam produced by the Li(p,n) reaction bombards a 7 mm-thick liquid hydrogen target. Deuterons are selected by time-of-flight between two thin plastic scintillators, and by a 16 scintillator range telescope. Trajectories are reconstructed by two multiwire chambers. Protons from n-p elastic scattering are detected at forward angle for absolute normalisation.
