The following pages first present the rules relating to the community of property regime (1), then those governing the separation of property regimes (2), trying to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of each scheme while also underlining a trend towards a gradual narrowing of the differences between “communitarian” and “separatist” spouses . Thirdly and lastly, we discuss the economic effects of death, which have recently become almost identical regardless of the spouses' matrimonial regime (which is a significant indicator of the argued convergence between the two systems) (3).
