Abstract
Accurate lifetime measurements have been carried out on the first 2/sup +/ levels in the nuclei /sup 102/Ru, /sup 106,108/Pd, and first /sup 5-///sub 2/ and /sup 9- ///sub 2/ in /sup 103/Rh, /sup 107,109/Ag, by the recoil-distance method. Deduced ratios between reduced E2 transition probabilities /b B/(E2) in the same or neighbouring nuclei have been compared to the predictions of collective `geometrical' and boson `algebraic' models. A reduction of collectivity between neighbouring even-even and odd-/b A/ nuclei is clearly established.
