- Abstract
- The genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda in 1994 has not only taken lives of human beings, but also shattered cultural references that have served as a pillar to keep in balance the mental health of the people. During this troubled time, multiple rapes and sexual violences were committed and, therefore, HIV/AIDS has spread to damage further the everyday life of the survivor in post genocide. The present doctoral research was conducted on mothers and their young children affected by HIV/AIDS in the context of genocide and following genocide in the attempt to develop intervention strategies that are appropriate, that is to say which respond to the traumatic experience suffered and to the movement of revival that appear when opportunity is given. What appears is precisely this potential establishment and we would say, expected of a double space Between Us and At Home, as we understand them in Rwanda. The redoubled traumatic experience of the genocide and HIV/AIDS, which has reached the foundations of relationship between people and between generations and even inside family, requesting their recovery by means of recreation under forms of Between Us and At Home. The Between Us means a space where strong links are created and recreated between children and between adults and children. These spaces are as "matrix", spaces of social revival links between peers, between parents and children. They also engage in the links between generations.
