The doctrinal content of the Quaestio de subiecto metaphysicae by Giacomino Malafossa from Barge, teacher of Scotist metaphysics in the Arts faculty at the University of Padua for more than four decades around the middle of the 16th century and regent master of the Franciscan study house St. Antonio in the same city for 25 years, has been instructively investigated elsewhere in the present issue of Medioevo. What follows here are some purely philological remarks on the text, its editions, its sources, and its relation to other works of the same author. The text presented here is based on the editio princeps which was published in 1553, two years after the completion of the text (according to the explicit of the 1553 edition). The editio princeps has been compared with a later printed edition from 1581 as well as with another printed work by the same author that has some passages almost identical with passages in our Quaestio.
