Abstract
This paper presents the preliminary results of the project «Ostia ReLOADed: Reconstructing Life in Ostia along the Decumanus», carried out by the Université catholique de Louvain and the Université de Namur. The intent of the project is to reconstruct the urban development of the sc. western district of Ostia, starting from the study of the parcel IV, VI, 1. This parcel hosted, in the first decades of the first century. A.D., one of the largest and richest domus with atrium and peristyle in the city, the sc. Domus del Portico di Tufo. Excavated through surveys between 1947 and 1952, the Domus was covered shortly after its discovery, without a detailed study and publication. In 2019, after a documentation and excavation campaign, the structures of the house have been brought to light and documented for the first time. In this paper we will present the mosaic floor of the atrium and the opus sectile of the tablinum, which were only partially published by Becatti, and a cement floor belonging to the fauces of the Domus, presented here for the first time.
