Objectives Improve the understanding of the vegetation effect on soil moisture retrieval from radar and radiometer data by performing tower-based active (radar) and passive (radiometer) microwave experiments. Develop and validate active and passive microwave radiative transfer (RT) models to derive information on vegetation and soil states from remote microwave signals. Improve the performance of the RT models and advance the range of parameters that can be retrieved from microwave sensors.
