- Abstract
- Complete androgen blockade consists in the permanent association of an antiandrogen to medical or surgical castration. This treatment modality for advanced prostate cancer has been a topic for endless discussions for more than 15 years, although no universal consensus has emerged yet. Historical metanalysis have incorporated studies evaluating the addition of nilutamide, flutamide and cyproterone acetate on castration. A better scientific understanding of hormonal treatment and information from recent trials using bicalutamide provide new insights on CAD that could be useful to the clinician when advising patient on candidate for hormonal therapy.
