- Against the backdrop of recent studies on the Greek of the LXX (Lee: 1983; Leonas: 2005; Hiebert: 2016; and the first publication of HTLS 2020), the paper aims at analysing how some lexical choices within the LXX translation in the depiction of God have been influenced by the beliefs and cults that surrounded the Ptolemaic kingship. Have some lexical feature of the LXX that convey matters of faith been influence by the Ptolemaic administration? Has the ideology and the cult of the Hellenistic sovereign permeated parts of the biblical translation? Kingship and power-related images of Ptolemaic times slowly shifted in their meaning, thus, in the LXX some features attributed to the sovereign slowly began to be applied to God Himself.
